Help us create safer and more pleasant local streets. Your feedback will help shape the LATM Plan for the Malvern, Fullarton and Highgate areas.

LATM plans aim to create safer and more pleasant local streets by:

  • Discouraging non-local traffic.
  • Improving driver behaviour and reducing vehicle speeds.
  • Providing a safer environment for all street users.
  • Enhancing street amenity.

Using data collection and analysis, we have identified ten recommendations to improve safety and access in the LATM Zone 4 area for community feedback. These recommendations have been identified through detailed analysis of the traffic-related data for the area, and customer requests received over the last five-year period. View the Analysis Report online.

We are now seeking your feedback on the ten recommendations, which include a number of intersection improvements, a proposed new priority pedestrian crossing on Fisher Street west of Highgate Street, a proposed new pedestrian crossing on Duthy Street near Sheffield Street, and a design options study to calm traffic speeds and volumes on Cambridge Terrace.

We also welcome feedback on any other local transport issues in the area that we may have missed.

Your feedback will help us gain a fuller understanding of the area’s transport issues that you consider should form part of this LATM plan.

Parking

While parking safety will be considered in the development of this LATM plan, issues relating to parking congestion on individual streets fall outside the scope of the LATM process. These matters are instead addressed through the endorsed Unley Parking Management Plan and its associated processes for reviewing and adjusting parking time limits on local streets.

If you have a specific parking concern in the LATM Zone 4 area, please do not include it as part of this consultation. Instead, contact Council directly at pobox1@unley.sa.gov.au.

Walking and Cycling

The City of Unley’s Walking and Cycling Network highlights four key bicycle routes in the LATM Zone 4 area. It is recognised that improvements to these streets are needed to enhance bicycle access for the 60% of interested but concerned riders. Upgrades will be addressed as part of Council’s Walking and Cycling Plan rather than through this LATM study. However, any opportunities to enhance walking and cycling at junctions or intersections identified through this study will be considered.
