Thank you to all who have provided feedback. This consultation is now closed. Feedback received will be provided to Council prior to the final adoption of the 2017-18 Budget.

Most people don’t consider how everyday life is improved by the many services councils provide. Imagine your everyday without street lighting, rubbish collection, or the maintenance of footpaths, roadways, street trees and verges. Imagine no playgrounds or local parks, libraries, sports club facilities or community centres. What would life be like without food inspections at local restaurants, rescue of stray animals, or provision of volunteer support programs?

Each year Council has to make important decisions about how to allocate ratepayers funds to the vast range of programs and services it provides via its Annual Business Plan.

Imagine no playgrounds or local parks, libraries, sports club facilities or community centres. Each year Council has to make important decisions about how to allocate ratepayers funds to the vast range of programs and services it provides via its Annual Business Plan.

Purpose of the draft 2017-18 Annual Business Plan

Before a council adopts it’s Annual Business Plan it must prepare a draft Annual Business Plan and undertake a public consultation process.

This purpose of the draft 2017-18 Annual Business Plan is to impart understanding of:

  • The services provided by the City of Unley
  • Proposed new initiatives and projects, and
  • The Draft budget for 2017-18

In drafting the draft 2017-18 Annual Business Plan, council seeks to achieve a reasonable degree of rate stability over time while ensuring ratepayers are paying for those services and infrastructure maintenance obligations they require.

A Long Term Financial Plan has been developed to assist Council with developing a budget within a prudent, longer-term financial framework. The key objective has been to ensure financial sustainability in the medium to long term, while still achieving Council’s goals as detailed in the Community Plan 2033 and Annual Plan objectives. This Long Term Financial Plan has informed the development of the Draft 2017-18 Annual Business Plan.
