Art Competition and Exhibition
An art competition for schools based in the Unley Council area would provide purposeful opportunities for children and teenagers to develop their artistic skills. If it was curriculum based schools would be more likely to take it up. There should still be opportunities for individuals to participate. The competition can culminate in an exhibition for the community to view and all young artists to have their work on display. The exhibition can be sponsored by local businesses.

Cooking classes
Community themed cooking classes run by local cafés and restaurants would be great! Italian theme, pastry work, baking bread, chocolate making, using fresh garden produce etc

Make all the school in the Unley Council Carbon Neutral
By off-setting all the emissions produced by the schools through a range of different offsetting methods, we ensure all our local schools are having a positive environmental impact. We will be the first council in Australia to do so.

Street Art Workshops
Workshops on a range of street art, from aerosol painting, to yarn bombing, to more emerging forms. The idea would be to get young people thinking about how they can activate and revitalise spaces - and maybe having the confidence to apply for grants/ permission to do so.

Programs Based On Young People Buy-In
The only successful programs I have seen from the time I was in a Youth Hostel in the 70's through until now are those based on engaging your target and asking them. We can all sit around and come up with feel good ideas, but it is likely that's all they are. Engage, engage, engage and then engage to confirm.
