Fluffy white dog with tennis ball in park

Purpose of this consultation

The City of Unley is currently seeking feedback from the community regarding dog off-leash times in Page Park.

Background

Page Park (C F Page Memorial Park) is a popular local park located on the corner of Cross Road and East Avenue, Clarence Park. The current use of Page Park includes tennis courts, a basketball backboard, an outdoor fitness station and an open grassed space where dogs can be exercised off-leash between 5 pm and 10 am daily.

Council has most recently engaged with the community on dog exercise times for this park and other local parks and reserves in 2016 and again as part of the development of the new Animal Management Plan in 2021. After taking into consideration community feedback, it was agreed by Council to retain the existing dog exercise arrangements, with an action included in the Animal Management Plan to further review shared use arrangements relating to dog off-leash exercise times at Page Park. This review includes seeking input from the community to explore and determine the appropriate balance of activities, and address any potential conflict of use.

The purpose of this community engagement is to seek community feedback regarding the use of Page Park, specifically seek input into the times for dogs to be on/off leash when using Page Park.
