Land Use Descriptions
The categories of land use in the Planning for Growth Precincts are:
Commercial Mixed Use:
Areas focused on businesses like shops, offices and services to help drive local jobs creation with complementary housing options in mixed use or wholly residential development.
Community Facilities:
Places for schools, health care, parks, and other community services. These areas may also include homes and small shops.
Main Streets:
Historic, walkable shopping streets with cafes, shops and services. New homes may be built above or behind shops.
Living Mixed Use:
Neighbourhoods where medium and high density housing is the main focus, supported by small shops or offices.
Housing Diversity:
Areas suited for a wider range of housing types, like townhouses or residential flat buildings. This helps meet the needs of different people, including downsizers, singles, and young families.
Activity Centres:
Busy hubs with shops, services and community facilities. Dwellings and accommodations are developed in conjunction with non-residential uses with building heights varying depending on the centre’s size.
Established Neighbourhoods:
Well-established residential areas with strong heritage and character. These areas are expected to stay mostly the same, with only small-scale changes.
