The City of Unley is working in partnership with the Unley Primary School and the Department for Infrastructure and Transport (DIT) as part of the Way2Go program. Way2Go is a State Government program promoting safer, greener, and more active travel for primary school students and their communities.

This joint collaboration involved monitoring safety and access practices around the school. To improve safety and access for all street users, particularly, during the peak school drop-off and pick-up periods, several recommended parking and traffic improvements for Rugby Street, Wattle Street and Cremorne Street are proposed.

The recommended parking and traffic improvements are summarised below, with further details shown on the plans (link under Proposed Parking and Traffic Improvements) which include both existing conditions and proposed improvements for each impacted street section.

Please review the Proposed Parking and Traffic Improvement plans and complete the survey below before COB Friday 23 August 2024.

  • 3C: Change Koala “Flashing Lights” Crossing on Wattle Street operating times for school pick-up period

In addition to the above four recommendations, to facilitate further improvement of driver behaviour, Council has developed education brochures on road safety around schools. These brochures will be provided to the school community to remind parents and guardians on appropriate and safe parking behaviours when picking-up and/or dropping-off their children, Kiss and Drop zone usage and general parking road rules.
