Maud Street Kerbing Build Out Proposal

2 June 2015

You may be aware of an incident late last year when an errant vehicle collided with the premises of A Mother’s Milk Café on the corner of Unley Road and Maud Street, Unley. Prior to this event, council had been in discussions with the proprietor of the café, regarding safety and access issues associated with the use of the footpath next to the café. The accident reinforced the need to reach a solution. After it occurred, and in the interests of public safety, Council installed a temporary barrier along the area.

To improve safety on a permanent basis, and with the agreement of the proprietor, Council has proposed changes to Maud Street. These changes include the installation of a landscaped kerb build-out fitted with energy absorbing safety bollards. These bollards are specifically designed to reduce the impact of a vehicle collision and to protect roadside diners.
