New public toilet facility for Scammell Reserve

16 October 2013

We are pleased to advise that a new public toilet facility will be located at Scammell Reserve.

Scammell Reserve is a delightful park in Myrtle Bank situated between Fisher Street and Culross Avenue, Myrtle Bank.  It has a range of quality recreation facilities including tennis courts, shelter, barbecue, playground and a kick about area.

The public toilets at Scammel Reserve were dilapidated and consequently removed approximately five years ago.  Since their removal, there have been requests for the toilets to be replaced, especially from groups that hire the tennis courts.

The toilet will also serve people walking along the linear park which currently links with Ridge Park and which ultimately will form a link between the foothills and the city.

Council has identified a preferred location (to view the location click here).  This preferred location was selected for the following reasons:

  • Accessible by users of Scammell Reserve, the linear park and community passers-by.
  • Public toilets should be located near roads and footpaths and in open spaces to maximise public surveillance.

Thank you and we look forward to your comments.
