What is the purpose of this Plan?
It is a legislative requirement of the local Government Act 1999 and the Development Act in Section 30 that we regularly review our Strategic and Development Plans. This review process allows us to gather community input and use this to determine the future direction for the City of Unley, so that budgets and strategies can be set.
The Draft Community Plan 2033 is what we have produced in response to the community’s feedback. Your survey responses will allow us to do two things:
Future strategic plans produced by Council will be aligned with both of these Plans.
What's the background of this project?
In producing the Draft Community Plan 2033, the City of Unley has taken the approach of combining the Strategic Plan review and the Development Plan review into a single program .
To inform the direction and content of the Draft Community Plan 2033 we undertook an extensive consultation process with the Community of Possibilities initiative, which took place across June and July this year. Over 2,400 ideas and suggestions were received from the community, and these were used in producing the Community Plan 2033.
This next phase of consultation is to seek feedback regarding our interpretation of your ideas, and the degree to which the Plan aligns with the aspirations of our community.
Once this consultation phase is complete, there will be a Public Hearing held early in 2013 to give any person who makes a written submission the opportunity to appear personally or by representative before the Council in relation to their submission. It is important to indicate clearly in your written submission if you wish to be heard at the Public Hearing.
After the Public Hearing two plans will be completed;
Future strategic plans produced by Council will be aligned with both of these Plans.
