We have been undertaking a Local Area Traffic Management (LATM) study in the Clarence
Park/Millswood area. Following community engagement on draft recommendations in July 2019, the
LATM recommendations have been finalised and were endorsed by Council on 23 September 2019.

BACKGROUND

The LATM process has involved the following steps, including two stages of community engagement:

  • JULY-DEC 2018 Analyse traffic and parking data
  • AUGUST 2018 Obtain general feedback to understand community priorities/issues (Stage 1)
  • JAN-JUNE 2018 Develop draft recommendations
  • JULY 2019 Obtain community feedback on draft recommendations (Stage 2)
  • SEPTEMBER 2019 Finalise recommendations and Council endorsement of final projects to be undertaken

STAGE 2 COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

In July 2019, we sought feedback from the community on 18 draft recommendations. Engagement

methods included:

  • Letter to all residents and businesses in the area
  • Unley’s ‘Yoursay’ online engagement platform
  • Information signs at six locations of key recommendations
  • Community drop-in session on 30 July 2019

From this process we received over 370 completed surveys and had conversations with many residents of the area, including the 70 attendees at the Community Drop-in Session. We are confident that this captured a representative sample of the community’s views and was key in finalising the recommendations. Feedback from the community resulted in one additional recommendation, significant changes to six recommendations, and minor changes to a number of other recommendations.

FINAL RECOMMENDATIONS

There are 19 final recommendations for the area, focusing on improving the key areas of Traffic Management, Road Safety, Parking, Walking, and Cycling. The final recommendations and a brief outline of changes (to draft recommendations) is provided overleaf. For a detailed summary of feedback received and further information on individual recommendations, please refer to the full LATM study report, available in the Document Library.

High Priority recommendations will be undertaken in the 2019-20 financial year and further correspondence will be received by affected residents/businesses prior to implementation where appropriate. Remaining recommendations will be undertaken in future financial years. For additional information, please contact us by email at pobox1@unley.sa.gov.au, or by phone on 8372 5111.
